Trap Backstop, 10-Gauge Steel

Works as intended. Reliably stops pellets that penetrate the layer of duct seal. It's rated at 20 fpe which is very, very conservative: I shot the trap with all I have up to 38gr .25 cal slugs at 65 fpe at 10 yards and it handles it like a champ. When you start stacking your shots, projectiles that penetrate the duct seal just flatten against the plate without leaving a dent. The putty captures the fragments, nothing comes back at you and the trap is still in one piece. Obviously I don't recommend that you do it too often: when you hear that your pellets start smacking the metal, its time to stop and repack the putty, but rest assured this plate will save your trap and your walls.

10 gauge steel is almost 1/8" thick so it makes a substantial backstop for your putty filled backstop. A smaller and thinner piece of steel cost more at our Lows and Home Depot.
